The "Brit a Day" series

What does a months-long parade of attractive British men have to do with fiction, you might well ask? These gentlemen have inspired some lovely scenes, part of the life I live in my head. Over time, some of these scenes reach out to one another and begin to form a story. For the present, each one of these pictures provides a writing prompt for me, a way to keep me writing with a sense of passion and narrative, even when the stories are not yet fully formed.

A Brit a Day [#857]

Here is Matt Smith when he was on Top Gear.  Have I ever mentioned that Matt was on Top Gear?  I was lucky enough to stumble upon his episode on BBC America On Demand a few months ago.  Probably not still there.  But if you've never seen his segment, search it out on Youtube or something.  It is pure Matt, down to earth and utterly chuffed at the same time.

A Brit a Day [#856]

Bring on the chibis!  I hear ya, little Loki, I want my Nutella too.

All credit to these artists who post on Tumblr:  these pics aren't mine.

A Brit a Day [#855]

Credit to the creator of this multiple image of Benedict Cumberbatch--it's not mine.

The cheekbones that would cut your hand are certainly softened by the wearing of spectacles.  Do eyeglasses soften everyone's face?  Just in case, I'll keep mine on.

A Brit a Day [#854]

Here's a link to an article that will make you love Alan Rickman even more than you already do...yes, it is possible.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/gloucestershire/content/articles/2005/07/14/potter_hotel_feature.shtml

"But on the last night Richard Harris, Kenneth Branagh and Alan Rickman did have a bit of a session. I think Rickman and Branagh regarded it as sitting beneath the feet of a master. He [Richard Harris] was very much into story telling and they were soaking up every bit of information."

Darryl was fascinated with the relationship between Kenneth Branagh, Alan Rickman and veteran screen legend Richard Harris, adding:

"That was interesting because they were almost in awe of him. He was obviously a great, great star and that was fascinating to see that they were like little boys [in his presence]."

A Brit a Day (#853)

Sir Ken and all the porn that appeals to us women of a certain age--the scruff, the open shirt, the hand with a wedding ring. Thank you, Wallander!

A Brit a Day (#852)

This is how I always think Tom Hiddleston looks .....even when he doesn't.

A Brit a Day [#850]

By special request--Matt Smith in a breezy summer-weight dress, a nightgown, or a slip, I honestly don't know which.  Garments tend to lose their function when they lose their form.

It's Hiddles in extra fine fan-art form again, and this week I chose four excellent manifestations of four equally excellent characters:  top to bottom, Captain Nicholls, Loki Laufeyson, Prince Hal, and King Henry V.  One could argue that the last two are the same character--we who've seen 'The Hollow Crown' just got lucky, it's not always that way.

A Brit a Day [#848]

Somebody's tumblr [not mine] paired these two items.  Not safe for those who are prone to weeping.  Seriously, what a beautiful poem, with a narrative aimed directly at John Watson's heart.

A Brit a Day [#847]

Something came up yesterday that caused me to think of this picture, and I thought 'What the heck, I'll post it for Sunday'.

A Brit a Day [#846]

I've often wondered who was the object of Bruce Wayne's intense gaze in this still [above].  Now, thanks to Sheisdelirium on Tumblr, I know that it is Harvey Dent.

A Brit a Day [#845]

I have over 200 pictures of Tom Hiddleston saved on my computer now, and it is actually a source of anxiety that I am supposed to pick just one or two to post on Fridays.  But both the GIF of the hair people messing with him and the promotional photo from 'The Hollow Crown' are pretty sweet, real stand-outs.

He's quite wrapped around Miss Tearsheet, there.  And here I thought all the snogging was just for show.

A Brit a Day [#844]

I was taken for a stroll down memory lane recently by an article I read online asserting that Desmond is a remake of the character Doctor Who.  This screen cap from 'Happily Ever After' was used among the supporting documents, and it caught my fancy because I don't think I've ever seen a still from this scene that didn't have the fish-eye lens look.  MRI's are cramped spaces, so that's understandable, but I much prefer the proportions of Desmond's face in this shot before he enters the chamber.
