The "Brit a Day" series

What does a months-long parade of attractive British men have to do with fiction, you might well ask? These gentlemen have inspired some lovely scenes, part of the life I live in my head. Over time, some of these scenes reach out to one another and begin to form a story. For the present, each one of these pictures provides a writing prompt for me, a way to keep me writing with a sense of passion and narrative, even when the stories are not yet fully formed.

A Brit a Day [#334]

I snagged this photo from Flickr, I think, so I don't know if this is it's original cropping, but there is just so much to say about what is and isn't in this picture. First of all, if that is a real baby, I have to say, it looks like one of those perfect prop babies they use to film with when no one has to interact with the baby. Secondly, if it is a real baby, you have to love how the mom is scooched out of the frame in favor of the other photographer's big hand. The real subject of the photo is, of course, Henry Ian Cusick greeting fans at LOST's season 6 premiere, about a year ago. I would quip that popular actors have to be like politicians, out with the public shaking babies and kissing hands, but that unintentionally implies a crime, so I won't.
