A Brit a Day [#1149]
I love seeing Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston together. I loved seeing Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward together. Their kiss became the thematic image for the Cannes Film Festival this year.

Something old, something new, something something Desmond blue. Just, those shoulders. Really. Done.

[Oops, I knew I was forgetting something yesterday....this post is for Wednesday.]
At least one of Matt Smith's 'other' endeavors is now available on DVDs that will actually play in North America--I saw 'Womb' for sale on Amazon.
I got the lovely photo from the Mattsmithissexy Tumblr.

A Brit a Day [#1141]
Today's choices were inspired by this picture I recently found by Edward Steichen of dancer Isadora Duncan.
We consider Ms. Duncan an honorary Brit because she had children with legendary set designer Gordon Craig.
He looks very tame here, but Gordon Craig was a visionary who was way before his time, working in a medium that was far from being able to realize his designs. My god, the things these people did before we had modern lighting and contemporary theatre technology.

Not happy about My Doctor retiring, but I wish him all the best.
[This is a very large picture, by the way. Click, then open in another tab. If it posts correctly, the original should be over 5000 pixels wide.]

A Brit a Day [#1137]
The question isn't, could a man have saved me $800. by fixing two door latches on my car himself? The question is, could he have done it without rubbing in the fact that it's a Volkswagen?

A Brit a Day [#1136]
A lovely, big picture of Alan Rickman for your Sunday/Fathers' Day. And your runaway mind is not playing tricks on you; it does say 'sex' on the board behind him.

We're going to see 'Star Trek: Out of Darkness' tomorrow. It's my Fathers' Day treat to my husband....right.

I'm so excited that he will be in 'Coriolanus' at Donmar this year--and I think I heard that one performance will be broadcast live to theatres in the US, too.

I got this from someone's Tumblr [Dollychops.tumblr?], and it is a fabulous re-imagining of Lady Gaga as a Disney princess.
When I was really young, Disney soundtrack compilations on vinyl LPs were available in some gas stations as premiums if you filled up your tank. I think it was Gulf? Man, I wish I still had those, but after years of play on the portable record player, they would probably be unbearable.

I've just finished watching all the Oz & James Go Drinking shows for the second time through. I didn't make any of these gifs or screencaps, but I really love them.

Without irony or artistry, here is a good old fashioned headshot of Alan Rickman. I do love his beautiful caramel-colored eyes.

[Art from Tumblr. I'd love to credit the artist if I knew who they were.]
Today's post is for that niche fan who loves James May's 'Man Lab,' and furthermore, loves the almost fatherly interaction that James has with twentysomething Rory Barker.
At normal speed, the clip from the whelk stall experience [below] is endearing, but BeastlyBones of Youtube [whom I found on Tumblr as the lovely Beth: http://themagiciansward.tumblr.com/me] has turned it into something downright adorable. She writes, "I was trimming for some GIFS and stumbled upon the speed options."
